This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile applications (myFCC for iOS and Android), website (freedomcodecompliance.com), and related services (collectively, the "Services").

FCC is a Florida-licensed private provider offering virtual plan reviews and building inspections under Florida Statute 553.791. Our Services facilitate building code compliance for contractors, building departments, and property owners across Florida.

By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services.

1.Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We collect information you provide directly when creating an account or using our Services:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, company name, mailing address
  • Professional Information: Contractor license numbers, insurance certificates, professional credentials
  • Project Data: Property addresses, building plans, inspection reports, photos, videos, compliance documentation
  • Payment Information: Billing address, payment method details (processed securely by our payment processor)
  • Communications: Messages, support requests, feedback, and correspondence with FCC staff
  • Third-Party Information: When creating projects, you may provide information about property owners or other third parties, including their name, email address, phone number, and address. You are responsible for having the appropriate authority to share this information with us

1.2 Google User Data

When you sign in with Google ("Sign in with Google"), we access:

  • Basic Profile Information: Name, email address, profile picture
  • OAuth Scopes: We only request the minimum scopes necessary to authenticate your account and associate it with your FCC profile

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

1.3 Automatically Collected Information

When you use our Services, we automatically collect:

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, mobile network information
  • Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, time spent, click patterns, app interactions
  • Location Data: Approximate location based on IP address; precise location only when you grant permission. During active virtual inspections and photo capture, we collect GPS coordinates at regular intervals to record inspection locations. This may include latitude, longitude, altitude, heading, and positioning accuracy. Location is collected only during active use of inspection features, not in the background. When you grant location permission, photos captured during inspections may include GPS coordinates in their metadata
  • Log Data: IP address, browser type, access times, pages viewed, diagnostic data

1.4 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information from:

  • Building Departments: Project records, permit status, compliance history
  • Public Records: Contractor licensing data from Florida DBPR and local jurisdictions

2.How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process virtual plan reviews and building inspections
  • Issue Certificates of Compliance (CoC)
  • Facilitate communication between contractors, inspectors, and building departments
  • Schedule inspections and coordinate site visits

2.2 Maintain and Improve Our Services

  • Operate, maintain, and improve our platform
  • Develop new features and functionality
  • Analyze usage patterns and service performance
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide customer support

2.3 Ensure Compliance and Safety

  • Verify contractor licenses and professional credentials
  • Comply with Florida Statute 553.791 and building code requirements
  • Maintain records as required by law
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

2.4 Communicate with You

  • Send service notifications across categories including project updates, quotes, documents, chat messages, and billing
  • Send inspection schedules, report status, and compliance updates
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests
  • Send administrative messages about your account
  • Provide updates about our Services (with your consent)

2.5 Process Payments

  • Generate and present quotes for services
  • Process quote acceptances and declinations
  • Bill for plan reviews, inspections, and other services
  • Process payments and manage invoices
  • Detect and prevent fraudulent transactions

3.How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only as described below:

3.1 Building Departments

We share project data, inspection reports, and compliance documentation with Florida building departments as required to provide our Services. This includes:

  • Building plans and permit applications
  • Inspection reports and photos/videos
  • Certificates of Compliance
  • Contractor license verification

Note: Once shared with building departments, this information becomes subject to Florida public records law (Chapter 119, Florida Statutes).

3.2 Licensed Inspectors

We share project information with FCC's network of licensed building inspectors who conduct virtual inspections on behalf of building departments.

3.3 Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate our Services:

  • Supabase: Cloud database and backend infrastructure (PostgreSQL hosting, authentication, file storage)
  • Payment Processors: Stripe and QuickBooks for payment processing and invoicing
  • Communication Services: Email (e.g., SendGrid, AWS SES) and SMS providers for notifications
  • Video Communication Services: Real-time video infrastructure for conducting virtual building inspections, including video, audio, and data transmission during inspection sessions
  • Address Verification Services: Address autocomplete and geocoding services to verify property locations during project creation
  • Push Notification Services: Notification delivery infrastructure that routes alerts through Apple Push Notification service (iOS) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android)
  • Cloud Services: AWS, Google Cloud, or similar infrastructure providers

These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

3.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations, court orders, or government requests
  • Enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements
  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of FCC, our users, or the public
  • Prevent fraud, security issues, or technical problems

3.5 Business Transfers

If FCC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4.Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where We Store Your Data

Your information is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (PostgreSQL database) and other cloud infrastructure providers located in the United States. File uploads (photos, videos, documents) are stored in encrypted cloud storage.

4.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL
  • Encryption at Rest: Sensitive data is encrypted when stored in our databases
  • Access Controls: Row-level security (RLS) policies ensure users can only access their own data
  • Authentication: Secure authentication using industry-standard protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT tokens)
  • Monitoring: Continuous monitoring for security threats and unauthorized access
  • Regular Audits: Periodic security assessments and vulnerability testing

4.3 On-Device Credential Storage

If you enable "Remember Me" in the mobile app, your login credentials are stored in your device's encrypted secure storage (e.g., iOS Keychain, Android Keystore). These credentials remain on your device and are protected by your device's security features.

4.4 Data Security Limitations

While we implement reasonable security measures, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

5.Data Retention and Deletion

5.1 How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and comply with legal obligations:

  • Active Projects: Data is retained for the duration of active building projects
  • Completed Projects: Compliance records are retained for 7 years to meet Florida building code record-keeping requirements
  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward
  • Payment Records: Retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes

5.2 Legal Retention Requirements

Florida law requires us to maintain building code compliance records for specified periods. We cannot delete compliance documentation that is subject to these retention requirements.

5.3 How to Request Deletion

You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting us at privacy@freedomcodecompliance.com. We will:

  • Delete or anonymize your personal information where legally permissible
  • Retain only what is required by law or for legitimate business purposes
  • Respond to your request within 30 days

Note: Some information cannot be deleted due to legal retention requirements or if needed to complete transactions you initiated.

6.Your Privacy Rights

6.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to access your personal information and request a copy in a portable format. Contact us at privacy@freedomcodecompliance.com to request your data.

6.2 Correction

You can update your account information and profile details through the myFCC app or by contacting our support team.

6.3 Deletion

You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements (see Section 5.3).

6.4 Opt-Out of Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking "unsubscribe" in any promotional message. Note that you cannot opt out of essential service notifications (e.g., inspection schedules, compliance updates).

6.5 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share
  • Right to request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

6.6 European Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

  • Right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data
  • Right to restrict or object to processing
  • Right to data portability

  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

7.Mobile App Permissions

The myFCC mobile app may request the following permissions:

  • Camera: To capture photos and videos for inspection documentation
  • Photo Library: To upload existing photos/videos to project files
  • Location: To record inspection locations during active virtual inspections and photo capture, verify job site locations, and provide location-based services. Location is collected only during active use of inspection features, not in the background. You can deny this permission and manually enter addresses, though some features may be limited
  • Notifications: To send inspection reminders, project updates, quotes, documents, chat messages, billing alerts, and compliance notifications
  • Files/Storage: To save and access building plans, inspection reports, and other documents
  • Microphone: For video recording during virtual inspections

You can manage app permissions in your device settings at any time. Denying certain permissions may limit some app functionality.

8.Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@freedomcodecompliance.com, and we will delete the information.

9.Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify you via email or in-app notification if the changes are material
  • Post the updated policy on our website

Your continued use of our Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
