HVAC Permit Help

Reliable HVAC permit help in Florida: who handles what

Split the work between two specialists. A permit expediter speeds up the permit itself: they prep your HVAC permit application, submit it, and follow it with the building department. Freedom Code Compliance, your Florida private provider under F.S. 553.791, speeds up plan review (when your job needs one) and inspections, including HVAC change-out inspections done live in the myFCC mobile app. FCC never pulls, runs, or expedites permits.

  • Permit expediter: runs the permit

Speeds up the permit itself. Pick one from FCC's vetted permit partners, who handle HVAC permits.

    • Preps and submits your HVAC permit application
    • Tracks the application and follows up with the building department
    • Works in parallel with FCC's plan review and inspections
    Find a permit expediter
  • FCC: plan review and inspections

Speeds up plan review and inspections as your Florida private provider under F.S. 553.791.

    • HVAC plan review when the jurisdiction requires it: typically minutes for a single-trade changeout, hours for single-family new work, 1–2 days for multifamily and commercial
    • Live virtual inspections in the myFCC mobile app, with your result before the call ends
    • Offline photo and video inspections, with results in minutes
    • Inspection results sent to the building department for you

Workable time is the time our team can act on your plans during business hours (weekdays 9–5, Fridays 9–4 ET). It’s how long a compliant submission with no blockers takes us to review and approve within business hours. Time waiting on you, like corrections or a quote out for approval, isn’t counted.

No scheduling required. You simply request the inspection when the work is ready. Live inspection requests are taken Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm ET; offline inspections can be submitted any time.

FAQ

HVAC & water heaters: FAQs

What are the best HVAC permit services for Florida contractors?

Use two services, because an HVAC job has two separate bottlenecks. A permit expediter speeds up the permit itself: application prep, submission, and follow-up with the building department. A Florida private provider like Freedom Code Compliance speeds up plan review and inspections under F.S. 553.791. Many builders and contractors use both. FCC never pulls, runs, or expedites permits, so choose the expediter you want from FCC's vetted permit partners and use FCC for plan review and inspections.

Who offers trusted HVAC permit support for installers?

For the permit itself, use a permit expediter. FCC lists vetted Florida permit partners who handle HVAC permits, and you choose the one that fits how you work. For plan review and inspections, use FCC as your private provider: we review HVAC plans when the jurisdiction requires them and perform your mechanical inspections virtually in the myFCC mobile app. Questions? Call (772) 222-6679 and a real person answers.

Which companies handle final inspection scheduling for residential HVAC?

When FCC is the private provider on the permit, FCC handles the mechanical final itself and schedules its own inspections. Request the final in the myFCC mobile app when the install is done. A live virtual inspection gets you a result before the video call ends, and an offline photo and video submission usually comes back in minutes. FCC sends the result to the building department. The app tells you when an inspection has to be live, and inspections the jurisdiction keeps, like zoning or fire, are still scheduled with the building department.

Is there one final inspection vendor for HVAC and plumbing contractors?

Yes. As the Florida private provider on the permit, FCC performs mechanical and plumbing inspections, including finals, for HVAC and plumbing contractors. Both trades request inspections the same way, in the myFCC mobile app, and get results live on the call or usually within minutes for offline submissions. FCC also reviews plans when the jurisdiction requires them. FCC does not pull permits: each contractor, or a permit expediter they hire, handles the permit.

Does FCC pull or expedite HVAC permits?

No. FCC never pulls, runs, or expedites permits, and it does not file the permit application or the NTBO. You, or a permit expediter you hire, handle the permit with the building department. FCC's job is plan review and inspections as your private provider. If you want permit help, pick an expediter from FCC's vetted permit partners.

How do virtual HVAC inspections work?

Two ways. Live video inspections happen through the myFCC mobile app: a licensed inspector joins a video call while you walk the installation, and you get results before the call ends. Offline photo submissions let you upload photos of your rough-in or final at any time, and results come back within minutes.

Do I still need plan review for an AC changeout?

It depends on the jurisdiction. Some Florida building departments require plans and a permit even for like-for-like equipment changeouts. FCC handles both the plan review (when required) and the virtual inspections, so you have one point of contact for the code-compliance side. You still pull the permit and file your paperwork with the building department.

Does a water heater changeout need plan review with FCC?

A direct like-for-like changeout (same fuel type, same location, same capacity class) typically does not require plan review. Freedom Code Compliance performs the virtual final. Plan review becomes relevant when the project involves a fuel-type conversion, a tankless conversion that changes gas-line sizing or venting, a main panel upgrade, or a relocation to a non-standard space. FCC handles review when required and inspection either way.

Do you offer volume pricing?

Yes. Volume pricing is available for contractors at scale. Talk to sales and tell us how many permits you run a month.
