Local Detail

Working in North Florida and the Panhandle

Jacksonville and the First Coast

The City of Jacksonville building department handles jobs inside Jacksonville city limits, and FCC works with it. FCC also works with Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Baldwin, which each run their own building department, so confirm which one covers your job address. Down the coast, FCC serves St. Johns County, St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and Palm Coast.

Gainesville and North Central Florida

FCC serves Alachua County and Gainesville, plus rural county building departments such as Columbia, Suwannee, Union, Bradford and Levy counties. Several cities in the region run their own departments that FCC is not registered with, so match your job address to the list on this page.

Tallahassee and the Big Bend

FCC works with the City of Tallahassee and Leon County, and with the Gadsden, Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison and Taylor county building departments nearby. Across these rural counties, virtual inspections save a long drive on every visit.

Pensacola, the Emerald Coast and Panama City

In the Panhandle, FCC serves the City of Pensacola, the Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay county building departments, and cities such as Destin, Gulf Breeze, Milton, DeFuniak Springs and Panama City. Some Panhandle counties and cities are not on our list today, so check yours on this page before you submit.

How It Works

How FCC works in North Florida and the Panhandle

  1. 01

    Submit plans in myFCC

Create a myFCC account and upload your plans. FCC reviews them for Florida Building Code compliance: single-family reviews come back in hours, multifamily and commercial in 1–2 days.

  2. 02

    Get stamped plans back

If the plans pass, FCC returns stamped plans and the private provider paperwork in myFCC; if not, you get clear comments to fix and resubmit. Your team then submits the permit and files the Notice to Building Official (NTBO) with the building department.

  3. 03

    Inspect in the myFCC app

When the work is ready, request a live inspection in the myFCC mobile app. You're matched with a licensed inspector in minutes and get the result before the video call ends. The myFCC system can route eligible scopes offline instead: GPS-tagged, timestamped photos and video, with results in minutes.

  4. 04

Results go to the building department

FCC sends passed inspection results to the building department and files the Certificate of Compliance once the required FCC inspections are complete. Zoning, fire, public works and other retained inspections stay with the jurisdiction.

Live virtual inspections happen in the myFCC mobile app, listed as myFCC by Freedom Code on the App Store and Google Play.

Permits

Need the permit itself moved faster?

A permit expediter speeds up the permit itself: application prep, submission and follow-up with the building department. FCC speeds up plan review and inspections as your private provider, and never pulls, runs or expedites permits. Pick the expediter you want from FCC's permit partners.

FAQ

North Florida & the Panhandle FAQs

Is there a private provider in Jacksonville?
Yes. FCC is a licensed Florida private provider registered with the City of Jacksonville building department, as well as Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Baldwin. Contractors use FCC for plan review and for virtual inspections requested in the myFCC app.
Does FCC work in Gainesville and Tallahassee?
Yes. Gainesville and Tallahassee each run their own building department, separate from the Alachua County and Leon County departments, and FCC works with each of them. Check whether your job address is inside city limits or in the unincorporated county before you submit.
Does FCC serve the whole Panhandle?
No. FCC takes new projects in the Panhandle building departments listed on this page, including Pensacola, Santa Rosa County, Okaloosa County, Destin, Walton County and Bay County. Some Panhandle counties and cities are not on the list today. If yours isn't listed, call us before you submit.
How do virtual inspections work for rural North Florida jobs?
The same way they work anywhere FCC serves: request the inspection in the myFCC app, walk the scope on a live video call with a licensed inspector, and get the result before the call ends. FCC inspects eligible scopes virtually, so many jobs need no site visit. Eligible scopes can go offline instead, with GPS-tagged, timestamped photos and video.
